My Fashion Week Outfits Revealed

Dressing up for Fashion Week is one of the most exciting things to me and I take it very seriously. This season in particular I had to put my best shoe forward since for the first time I was representing myself and this blog. Seasons prior I had always written for someone else and this time it was thrilling to finally branch out on my own and be recognized as worthy press. I usually begin my wardrobe preparations a few weeks in advance but this time I started planning 4 months prior! I always like to find interesting pieces that bring out my personality which consists of classy mixed with unconventional.

The above dress I'm wearing is my favorite color, coral! Coral is such a vibrant color and it was perfect to wear during the warm September days. I had actually worn the dress once before when I taped All On The Line with Joe Zee, the creative director of Elle magazine. When I was on the Tyra Banks show few years ago a producer gave me the tip of always wearing something bright when you go on camera.

This dress was definitely one of the most fun dresses to wear. A fabulous designer called Chevelish was nice enough to let me borrow it. I'm a huge fan of unique pieces and I immediately fell in love with this dress the minute she sent me the preview. It's very Lady Gaga like no?
This cheetah print dress was another fun piece to wear. You can't really tell from the picture but it has an interesting fringe on the top. I paired it with my favorite brown floppy hat, aviator sunglasses and my knee high black boots.

I really liked the texture on this dress. I was going for the Barbie Doll look with bright pink lipstick, chunky costume jewelry and my favorite black wedges.

Who says you can't wear white after Labor Day? This was one of my favorite looks to style. I was going for the modern day take on a Victorian outfit. I first purchased the white shirt which reminded me of the monarchy since it had a high collar, accentuated shoulders and flowing bottom. I was originally trying to find red shorts to pair the shirt with but when I saw this red skirt I knew it would be the perfect match. The final touch was wearing my white Emilio Pucci sunglasses.

Celebrity Encounters at SS12 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

I was so excited to meet so many of my favorite celebs during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. This season I had the pleasure of meeting Annalynne McCord (90210), Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle (Gossip Girl), Rachel Zoe (Fashion Stylist), Tinsley Mortimer (Socialite) and Bobbie Thomas (Fashion Editor of NBC's TODAY show).

I met Annalynne right after seeing the Eva Minge fashion show at the Hudson Hotel. Ironically she was walking right in front of me as we were exiting the show. She was so sweet to talk to and seemed very down to earth. Although I really wish I didn't end up taking my heels off. I look majorly short compared to her!
I met Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle after the Son Jung Wan fashion show. I'm a huge fan of Gossip Girl so it was really fun to meet them in person!
I was seated right across from Rachel Zoe in the front row during the Supima fashion show this season. Rachel has been my fashion inspiration and icon ever since I started my career in fashion. I'm in love with her show The Rachel Zoe Project and never thought I would get the opportunity to meet her in person. After the show was over I knew that she would be extremely busy with press interviews backstage so I made a point to literally dash over for the opportunity to meet her. She was extremely nice and we ended up taking a picture together. That day was truly one of the best days of my life aside from being seated in the front row right across from Rachel I also had the privilege of meeting her. I'm one lucky girl!
After leaving one of the lounges at the Empire Hotel I ran into NYC socialite Tinsley Mortimer.
I met Bobbie Thomas during the Fiber One Cocktail Party that she was hosting. We ended up chatting for a good 30 minutes about fashion and the shows we were attending. Bobbie is such an inspiration to me when it comes to making it in fashion.

The Artistry Beauty Lounge At Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

I was incredibly lucky to attend the Artistry Beauty Lounge at the Empire Hotel during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. The experience was truly memorable, relaxing and very fun! The Artistry Lounge was like peaceful oasis from the hectic pace of running between shows and editing my blog. My first stop at the lounge was the beauty counter where I received a consultation on which Artistry products would work best on my skin. I filled out a form for the products to be mailed to my home. Unexpectedly I received a huge gift basket from them with my recommended products and many more Artistry makeup goodies. I will blog about using their amazing products in a later post.
Next I was given a paraffin hand treatment which was another incredible experience! I’ve never heard of this type of treatment so I was quite surprised when my hands were massaged with lotion, dipped in wax and then covered with gloves. When my hands were finally uncovered they felt very soft and smelled so nice. See below picture!
After my hand treatment my friend and I sampled some snacks which included a healthy combination of mini sandwiches, croissants, fruits and veggies.
Delicious wine was also served.

After sampling the refreshments I was given a full makeover by the amazing Artistry makeup artist. I loved every single makeup product that she used on me from the concealer which worked like magic to the beautiful eye enhancing eye shadow and luxuriously red lipstick.

Here is a close up of when she was putting on the final touches. I honestly felt like a porcelain doll after she was done!
I left the Artistry Lounge feeling so refreshed, relaxed and extra glamorous. The Artistry makeup artist did an incredible job and the makeup lasted all night. I received a million and one compliments when I went back to the tents for my final shows. I'm officially an Artistry fan and would highly recommend their makeup and products. They're the epitome of luxury in the beauty industry. Thank you so much Artistry for giving me this amazing experience and sending me your incredible products. Stay tuned to my upcoming blog post about my experience using their amazing skincare and beauty products.

Fiber One Cocktail Party With Bobbie Thomas

I had the privilege of being invited to the Fiber One Cocktail Party hosted by NBC’s TODAY show Style Editor Bobbie Thomas at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. I've been a huge fan of Bobbie’s work in fashion so it was definitely very exciting to get a chance to meet and talk to her. We talked about what shows we were attending and many other fabulous topics. She was just as glamorous as you would expect her to be but surprisingly also very down to earth.
Fiber One partnered with Bobbie to launch their Fiber One Great Taste Giveaway and encourage smart snacking on-the-go. Check out the Fiber One Facebook page for a chance to win either an all-expense paid trip to Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC during February 2012, a $500 gift card for a designer handbag of your choice or a box of Fiber One Bars or Brownies.

k2o by Karen Ko

I had the pleasure of briefly meeting Karen Ko at Mercedes-Benz Fashion when I stopped to take her picture for my blog. What caught my attention was her golden spike hand jewelry. I’m a huge fan of glamorous spikes so I immediately asked her where she got it. Karen let me know that she was a jewelry designer and this was one of her pieces. I took her card home and looked up her jewelry site which is called k2o by Karen Ko. According to her site Karen’s passion for jewelry began early in her childhood, growing up in her family’s fine jewelry business. After studying and working in finance, Karen decided to return to her true passion and earned a degree in jewelry design from my alma mater the Fashion Institute of Technology and shortly after began creating k2o. Each k2o piece is designed for the stylishly daring woman with an independent edge. Her jewelry is currently being sold online at

NYFW Tent Style: Stylish Mom and Daughter

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week wouldn't be the same without this fashion duo. Fashion Week regulars Julia and her adorable daughter Tesa are always dressed to the T and this time was no exception. I snapped this cute photo of them by the the TRESemme hair styling lounge. Julia was wearing a bright yellow top with cowel neck and a pink skirt. Tesa the mini fashion plate was dressed in a striped outfit.

Rolando Santana SS12 Fashion Show: Vintage Glamour

Gossip Girl wardrobe stylists take note! Rolando Santana’s new Spring/Summer 2012 collection would be the perfect addition to the wardrobes of the Upper East Side elite like Serena or Blair.

It was my second time seeing Rolando Santana’s collection at Exit Art Gallery in NYC and this time the line for his show was literally going around the block!

The new collection was full of rich colors like vintage white, gold, champagne, metallic ivory, silver and sage green. It was quite the far cry from the bright colors and floral prints that dominated the runways this season. The pieces were deliciously adorned with exquisite sequins and elaborate beading which added the perfect touch of glamour. Rolando collaborated with Manolo Blahnik for shoes which really solidified the whole posh Upper East Side meets Sex in the City feel for his collection.

The collection really catered to the lifestyle of sophistication and glamour which I think any girly girl would love. My favorite piece was the sage green frock with chiffon and beading trim on mesh sleeveless dress accompanied by the round neckline with asymmetrical beading detail.

My fashion advice for this spring would be to push the colorful frocks aside and make room for some glamour with Rolando Santana’s new collection.
