Meeting Maksim Chmerkovskiy at Zang Toi's Fall 2013 Fashion Show

It’s always fun meeting some of my favorite celebrities at New York Fashion Week. Last season my favorite celeb to meet was Fran Drescher. This season it was definitely Maksim Chemovorksy. I met him at the Zang Toi Fall 2013 fashion show. He was so nice in person and definitely even more handsome in real life. I was excited to tell him that like him, I’m also originally from Ukraine. The second I was about to speak to him in Russian, he complimented me on my outfit and told me I looked beautiful.

Unexpectedly, at that moment I forgot how to speak and I remember mumbling thanks before walking away in a daze of ‘did that really just happen’?!

I completely missed the opportunity to tell him in Russian that I was also from Ukraine and that I really admired his work and how much he’s accomplished here in America.

Maksim, if by some one in a million chance you come across this post; here is what I wanted to tell you in Russian: “Ya toshe priyehala se Odessa! Ya ochen lublu shto te deleyash y vasheshause skoka te zdelale v Ameriky!
Translation: I’m also from Odessa. I really love what you do and admire how much you’ve accomplished in America!

My Outfits For New York Fashion Week Fall 2013

Day 1: Edgy Hollywood Movie Star

About the Look:
My look was centered around the beautiful Norma Ishak blue feathers and fur shrug. It’s such a strong piece so I wanted the rest of my clothes to serve as a compliment for it. Norma Ishak is famous for creating luxury handmade accessories and using the finest fabrics and feathers in the world. I was completely obsessed with this shrug the minute I saw it as it as it reminded me so much of blue fire. I envisioned an edgy Hollywood movie star look so I paired the Norma Ishak piece with leather leggings, round blue rim sunglasses and spiked booties. The outfit was my own modern version spin on Olivia Newton-John’s iconic look in Grease.

A Visit to Edward Roth's Futuristic Art Meets Fashion World

I had a chance to stop by a fabulous new fashion company called Edward Roth. They’re a cutting edge, high end clothing line with the vision to connect art with fashion.

They showed me a sneak peak of their newest collection which included futuristic digital art by an artist named Elena Vizerskaya.

According to the company, “In our world the beauty of art is inspiring and takes you many places around the world without every stepping foot on the ground. We understand the modern world and created a balance between high end materials and digital artistry. Our outstanding ideas of color bring you to the future with us. The vision is clearly cut and the designs are passionately brought to life.”

Ombre Hair Makeover at ARROJO Salon for New York Fashion Week

Photograph by David Geffin

I’m excited to tell you about my recent collaboration with the famous ARROJO salon for a special ombre hair makeover for New York Fashion Week.

I’ve been pining over the ombre hair trend for some time now. A good friend of mine named Stephen "The Salon Guy" highly recommended the ARROJO salon on 180 Varick Street in New York. ARROJO is the hairdressing brand owned by Nick Arrojo, world renowned stylist/educator/salon owner and television personality. Some of his celebrity clients include actors Minnie Driver and Liev Schreiber to name a few.

For this special collaboration I had the privilege of working with well known photographer David Geffin. What I love most about his work is his exceptionally keen eye for detail and story-telling photography. He ended up shooting a beautiful sequence of editorial style photos that chronicle my entire experience at the ARROJO salon.
