Audubon Young Members 2015 Spring Benefit At The Bowery Hotel Rooftop

Audubon New York Young Members hosted an epic benefit last night at the Bowery Hotel Rooftop.

The philanthropic soiree featured an open bar, hors d'oeuvres, and silent auction filled with art, entertainment, travel, beauty, and fashion items.

Host Committee included:
Arielle Patrick, Chair
Martin Ambrose, Elizabeth Baker, Samantha Chin, Alexander Cook, Stephanie Cozzi, Rich Cummings, Wael Alexander Davis, Christina Eberli, Juliet Falchi, Kate Falchi, Grant Ginsberg, Winnie Lewis, Jenna Manula, Carolyn Niemann, Meg Niemann, Dominic Pepper, Joshua Pino, Adrienne Rudkin, Patricia Ruiz-Healy, Peter Stamm, James Tierney Tang and Jenny Zeckendorf.

The benefit raised nearly $30,000 through tickets sales and silent auction items.

100% of that money will go toward Audubon New York's important conservation, education, policy and advocacy work that aims to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity.

Specifically, the money raised will help fund the ‘Lights Out’ program. Every year, billions of birds migrate north in the spring and south in the fall. Most fly at night. As they pass over big cities on their way, they can become disoriented by bright lights, especially those on buildings and other structures that reach high into the sky directly in their path. Millions die.

Lights Out is a national effort to reduce this problem. The strategy is simple: By convincing building owners and managers to turn off excess lighting during the months migrating birds are flying overhead, the intiative helps to provide them safe passage between their nesting and wintering grounds.

The Marfan Foundation's 15th Heartworks Gala At Cipriani

The Marfan Foundation’s 15th Annual Heartworks gala was a glamorous affair to remember, partially for its decadence but more so for the unforgettable stories and speeches from people whom Marfan syndrome has affected. The star-studded gala was held at Cipriani on East 42nd Street in New York City and included a cocktail reception, silent auction, live performance, dinner and an awards ceremony.

This year the Marfan Foundation honored Isaiah Austin, the former Baylor University basketball star, and Carolyn Levering, Emeritus CEO of The Marfan Foundation, with its 2015 Hero with a Heart Award.

Special guests included Former NY Knicks standout Walt “Clyde” Frazier, Former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg, actress and dancer Bebe Neuwirth; and several members of the New York Knicks. Additionally, the who’s who of business and philanthropy were also in attendance to lend their support.

Tony Award-winner James Naughton was the master of ceremonies, with support from broadcasters Jill Martin and Janice Huff who assisted with the presentations. Megan Hilty, famous Broadway and television actor and singer entertained the crowd with jaw dropping performances.

Sponsors of the event included the American Heart Association, CRBE, Cushman & Wakefield, Macy’s, Nautica, Univision, and VF Sportswear.

The Marfan Foundation creates a brighter future for everyone affected by Marfan syndrome and related disorders. It works tirelessly to advance research, serve as a resource for families and healthcare providers, and raise public awareness.

Marfan syndrome is a life-threatening genetic disorder of the body's connective tissue. It affects the heart and blood vessels, the bones and the eyes. Knowing the signs is the key to early and accurate diagnosis and life-saving treatment.

The 15th Heartworks gala raised over $1.2 million dollars that evening. The funds will benefit the Marfan Foundation’s efforts to provide education, patient support, and research to create a brighter future for people living with Marfan syndrome and related disorders.

Runway Ready with Jay Manuel's Cosmetic Line Exclusively at HSN

Jay Manuel, a celebrity makeup artist who’s most notably known for his work on America’s Next Top Model created a namesake makeup collection. I was thrilled for the opportunity to review it for HSN, especially after seeing Coco Rocha rave about it on her Instagram!

Jay Manuel Beauty recently launched exclusively at HSN and it's selling out fast. The collection ranges from $20.00 for the Ultimate Lip Gloss, available in five colors, to $38.00 for the Skin Perfector Foundation, plus exclusive kits for $39.99. The brand is founded on Jay’s professional expertise and built around products and techniques that translate from the runway to real life. Jay believes that a woman’s appearance is an outward reflection of who she really is and Jay Manuel Beauty offers three unique looks to choose from:  Classic, Iconic, and Avant-Garde.

I’ve always been a fan of Jay’s work and especially after meeting him a few years ago at Fashion Week. He was so nice, and the epitome of high fashion. His makeup line is truly a reflection of his aesthetic and more importantly looks just like the makeup that’s used on runway models. And, who doesn’t want to look like a gorgeous model?!
