The Marseilles Hotel was the official sponsor of my stay while I covered the shows at Mercedes-Benz
Fashion Week Swim in Miami last week. The Marseilles
Hotel is an original Miami Beach Art Deco style boutique hotel with
typical architecture and design features of the 1940's. I had heard so many great things about the
Marseilles Hotel so it was definitely quite exciting to stay there. Located on 1741
Collins it was just two blocks away from Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim.
The hotel
entrance was surrounded by beautiful palm trees. I stood there for a second
admiring the view as I don’t see that many palm trees in New York.
The
next sight was the hotel’s outdoor restaurant which was located right by the
entrance. Tables decorated with exotic flowers were definitely a welcoming view.
As I walked into the hotel I noticed this homey like waiting area with paintings and couches. When I came up to the front
desk I was warmly greeted by Marseilles Hotel staff and given a key to my room.
After 24+ hours of traveling a warm bed and a nice shower was all that I wanted at the moment. Why 24+ hours you ask? I’ll get to that story a bit a later…
I finally arrived at my
room number 706 and opened the door. Looking around the room I was taken aback
by the quaint beauty of the Art Deco style décor. I was seriously in awe for a good couple of
minutes until I willed myself to walk
around and explore. Of course the first thing
that I noticed was the large queen sized bed in the middle of the room. The bed
as you can see was decorated with lovely blue and white sheets which reminded
me of home.
On the bed were two white
bathrobes with matching slippers with a note that welcomed me to the hotel.
After 24+ hours of
traveling all I could think about was taking a shower so I went to see the
bathroom next. The bathroom included a huge shower, more towels than I could
possibly wish for and nicely smelling toiletries. Of course I can’t leave out
the huge mirrors which definitely made getting ready for Fashion Week quite enjoyable.
After taking a much needed
shower and putting on the lovely Marseilles Hotel bathrobe and slippers I went
to explore the room a bit more. I noticed a door which
opened to a balcony overlooking Miami and the beach. It was late at
night so the view was quite beautiful with all the bright lights of Miami. I really couldn’t
wait to explore the beach in the morning before my shows at Mercedes-Benz
Fashion Week Swim.
Did I mentioned my room
had a Jacuzzi in it? In the morning when I woke up I decided to test it out.
The décor around the Jacuzzi was quite stunning between the Grecian-esque
pillars and framed photo it reminded me of a spa in Greece. The Jacuzzi felt
like heaven and was just what I needed after so much traveling the day before.
Here is a view of the bed,
balcony door and Jacuzzi all in one shot.
I didn’t have time to watch it but my lovely room was also equipped with a large screen TV and
a desk underneath.
My first order of business
was to check out the beach. I put on my favorite over-sized sunnies, floppy hat, bikini and covering and was ready to go!
When I got downstairs I
walked by these interesting decorations which included statues and artsy furniture.
This statue was one of my favorites. It just looked so peaceful and calm which was what most people in Miami were like.
Outside the back entrance
to the Marseilles Hotel was the pool. Jumping into the pool was my second order
of business that day.
The weather in Miami that day was just perfect with
temperatures around 90 degrees. The pool felt so heavenly that it took me a good 30 minutes to finally get out.
Walking toward the beach
at the Marseilles Hotel I saw this cute canopy with mini lounge
beds inside.
I decided to try out the lounge bed for this photo but was too distracted by the beach nearby to stay long.
Before I hit the beach I noticed two large hammocks swaying in the wind just calling my name to give them a try.
Of course I made it my third order of business that morning to lay out on the Marseilles Hotel hammocks.
I spent a blissful 45 minutes swaying on the hammock in the warm Miami sun while leisurely skimming my schedule that day for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim.
Finally I walked towards the entrance of the private Marseilles Hotel beach. After a few more steps the big beach reveal was more than I could have ever hoped for...
The private Marseilles Hotel beach was everything I imagined it to be and more. As I stepped on the sand and walked towards the ocean for the first time in Miami I felt a genuine sense of relaxation that was much needed before my packed day of fashion shows and events.
The ocean in Miami was so warm and the waves were just perfect. I spent each morning at the beautiful Marseilles Hotel private beach before my evening fashion shows. The trip was definitely one of the most memorable experiences I've had so far in fashion and I can't wait to show you what I've been up to at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Miami. Thank you Marseilles Hotel for giving me such an incredible experience. The hotel is truly a gem nestled in the heart of Miami's South Beach Art Deco District.
