Josie and the Dragon Book Launch Party

Last week I attended fashion designer Josie Natori’s launch party for her new book Josie and the Dragon. The book is about her fairy-tale fashion story on how she started her company. It will launch in the Year of the Dragon to celebrate The Natori Company’s 35th anniversary.

This was a very special event for me as I was lucky to be dressed by the Natori PR team the morning before the party. Can you say dream come true?!
I almost didn't get a chance to pick up my outfit because my day was filled with so many back-to-back business meetings. Luckily, fashion fate was on my side and I had about 20 minutes until my next meeting that morning. That very second I literally ran down Madison Avenue in my 5 inch heels to visit the Natori showroom. There was absolutely no way I could possibly miss the opportunity of wearing Natori to the launch party that evening.

Walking into the showroom was the most memorably and fashionably euphoric experience. It reminded me of a scene from Devil’s Wear Prada where beautiful clothes were organized around a gorgeous showroom. Of course this scene was sans mean assistants as the Natori PR girls were the nicest people I’ve ever met!
Since I didn't have that much time the lovely Natori team already picked out a few looks for me to wear. As I looked through the selection I found a beautiful Imperial Red Natori dress called Emmajin. I loved the deep red color and how the silky charmeuse fabric felt against my skin.

Next, I was given accessory options to wear with the dress. I picked out the Gold Josie Natori Carved Brass Cuff because it had a design that was similar to the pattern on the dress.

Finally, earrings came next! I chose the Josie Natori Smoky Quartz Earrings as they added the perfect touch of glamour needed to complete the look.

I was inspired by exotic Geisha women with pale skin and red lips when I put this look together. It turned out to be the perfect combination of East meets West with a modern twist.

I arrived to the party feeling like the luckiest girl in the world and was beyond excited to finally meet Josie Natori.
The room was filled with fashionable guests who were drinking champagne and admiring the book’s original paintings which were exhibited all around.

I met Josh Wong, a fabulous photographer from Guest of a Guest who was shooting pictures at the event.

We ended up having a mini photo shoot as he wanted me to post exactly like the woman in one of the paintings. You can see the finally photo above!

Finally, the moment I was most excited for came when I was introduced to Josie Natori, the legendary designer. We chatted for a bit and I told her how much I admired her work and what an honor it was to wear her collection to the event.

Over the course of 35 years Mrs. Natori built a fashion empire which centers around the fusion of an East meets West aesthetic. Her company has grown into a lifestyle brand that includes lingerie collections (Josie Natori, Natori, Josie and N Natori), the Josie Natori ready-to-wear collection, home, fragrance and eyewear.

Thank you so much to Michelle and the rest of the amazing Natori team for letting me barrow such gorgeous Natori pieces and making my evening extra special!
