HUGO BOSS invited me to see
their new Fall 2013 collection at their breathtaking showroom in New York. The press
visit was scheduled by appointment only which made the experience that much
more special.
I was shown their new Fall
2013 women’s BOSS, HUGO and BOSS ORANGE collections. It was so much fun going through each rack to pick out my favorite pieces. In between shots I couldn't resist trying on some of their lovely coats like the above BOSS petticoat.
Each collection was magnificent and had so much intricate design and meaning behind it.
I was first shown the BOSS
women’s collection. The BOSS collection offers a versatile selection of sophisticated modern
classics in business, leisure and formal wear. There was an abundance of clean
cuts, playful prints and Art Deco details. The new Fall 2013 collection was inspired by an
artist named Man Ray. He was the master of Surrealism in his photographs, paintings and films. The presentation of women in his work appears
contemporary, unconventional, overdrawn. The world of Man Ray and the attitudes
of his women form the basis for brand new silhouettes in this season’s
collection.
The infinite virtuosity of the artist Man Ray echoes in the season’s prints as well. Think Surrealism: skinny pencil skirts and
sleeveless silk dresses show off layers and layers of dots, lines and blossoms
that recall the brushwork of watercolor painting. Everything is naturally
harmonized with the collection’s color story: gray and black, beige and
bordeaux. The BOSS collection is feminine, elegant and well-dressed with touches of
Art Deco flamboyance.
Next, I previewed the HUGO
collection. HUGO delivers innovative
looks with a modern, urban attitude. HUGO embodies an edgy yet confident style.
The new Fall 2013 collection pays homage to two decades of directional design. Red was a huge staple in the collection. One of my favorite pieces was the above gorgeous red coat. Traditional silhouettes were updated with never-before-seen details. A cropped
and collarless wool jacket with modest hook fasteners wears a surprising
double-folded shoulder with a metallic-look finish. For Creative Director Eyan Allen the modern tailoring, technical fabrics and ingenious features are the essence of the HUGO story.
BOSS Orange is the more casualwear line for HUGO BOSS. BOSS Orange expresses the urban lifestyle of the world’s cosmopolitan capitals. While BOSS
Orange cuts focus on clean and streamlined shapes, the materials feature
exceptional treatments that produce a fresh feel and color intensity.
Creative Director Eyan Allen sends the Fall 2013 modern womenswear
classics on a journey exploring the boundless potential of dreams and
fantasies. Fabrics are reworked and remixed, familiar prints take on new guises
– almost as though an Instagram filter has been applied. The polka dots on the above mustard
colored rayon blouse are as arbitrary as a Dalmatian’s spots; the black stripes
on the white silk pants could have been scribbled with a felt pen.
The accessories were the perfect match for their counterpart RTW collection. Each bag, shoe, glove, belt and scarf was made with HUGO BOSS's unique luxurious and sleek aesthetic.
The perfect ending to my visit was sampling a few of their delicious treats like Rosemary & Truffle dusted pocaccia bites. It was so surreal to be given a personal sneak peak of the new HUGO BOSS collection at their New York showroom. The experience reminded me so much of my trip to Germany with HUGO BOSS for their fashion show two years ago. I love seeing the new HUGO BOSS collection each season as they continuously push the limits of exceptional design with surprising futuristic elements.
Thank you so much HUGO BOSS for inviting me to see your brilliant new Fall 2013 collection. Check out more of my favorite looks from BOSS, HUGO and BOSS ORANGE below!
