Nordstrom spa invited me to
experience a special day of relaxation, luxury and ultimate pampering.
The Nordstrom spa is located
in select Nordstrom stores in Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Texas and Washington.
I chose to visit the one in
the Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ as that was the most convenient for me. The
spa experience was definitely just what I needed after a long week filled with
meetings, fashion events and various charity galas.
My spa package included a 2
hour full body Aromatherapy Revitalizer, lunch break and 1 hour Alpha Beta Peel
facial.
I arrived for my 11am
appointment ready to be rejuvenated from the stress of my busy week. I was warmly greeted by Greg, the Spa Director at Nordstrom Spa. We
chatted for a bit about my upcoming spa package. Since it was an all day
package the spa accommodates guests with complimentary lunch from the Nordstrom
café. Greg gave me a menu and asked that I choose whatever I wanted. It was a
hard decision since everything looked so delicious! I decided to go with the Grilled Skirt Steak Chimichurri with roasted asparagus, carrots and yukon gold
potatoes, and cilantro lime vinaigrette.
Next,
I was whisked away into a dimly lit room where my spa session was to begin with
the Aromatherapy Revitalizer. My bed was prepared with the
spa essentials for the day like a robe, hair mask, hangers and more.
My spa experience started
with a 10 min warm feet soak. This by the way was just perfect after a hectic
week running around in heels!
Next, Kristine, the
Certified Massage Therapist started my Aromatherapy Revitalizer. This fragrant,
intoxicating wrap is used to soothe, relax and detoxify the body. I asked
Kristine to briefly describe the process.
Kristine: You’re
going to have a spa revitalizer service. It’s two hours with me and you’re
going to have a full body exfoliation with a crushed walnut scrub. It’s micro-beads
so it’s very gentle but you’ll be amazed at how smooth and soft your skin feels
afterwards. It’s going take off the fine, dead layer of skin on top. It’s going
to allow the aromatherapy wrap to soak in more effectively. That’s the first
phase. The aromatherapy wrap has an algae base which is going to get in on a cellular
level and will stimulate your cells to do a gentle toxin purge. It will also encourage
the blood stream to flow so you’ll get a nice toxin release. There is a little bit
of pine in it which is a detoxifier. This is perfect to do now with the change
of season going into warmer weather.
After exfoliation I went to wash away the scrub under a golden shower which was right inside my room. My favorite Moroccan shampoo and conditioner were also in the shower.
After the full-body exfoliation,
I was wrapped in a moisture-rich blanket of essential oils, which allow
the body to absorb the powerful effects of aromatherapy. Periodically Kristine would spray a beautiful flowery scent around the room and over my face.
Relaxing music was
playing in the background as I lay wrapped in the warm blanket. It
felt like I was wrapped in a human-sized cocoon that would transform me into a
beautiful butterfly upon unraveling. All of my thoughts, tensions and worries
seemed to just slowly disappear.
An aromatic scalp massage was
done right after the wrap and was meant to further enhance the properties of the treatment. The massage was done with a hair mask which made my hair as
soft as silk.
After another shower I was
given a heavenly full-body massage to further add an even deeper sense of
relaxation and revitalization.
When my Aromatherapy
Revitalizer was finished I had such a peace of mind feeling that made me feel
so free. I can’t justly describe the feeling but the closest thing to it is
equating it to a butterfly that was just hatched from its cocoon and flying around
for the first time with not a worry in the world.
After my session Kristine described exactly how she achieves this freeing feeling.
Kristine: After the exfoliation and the wrap your skin feels wonderful and you're de-toxified. The massage process not only relaxing the muscles but it’s also causing your mind to go deep inside your body. The focus goes on the body, it goes on the muscles. When you focus on the autonomic functions your mind can’t think of anything else. That’s when the real de-stressing and healing takes place. People have what you call that zen moment and that’s what we try to achieve with everyone.
I was asked to walk
into the adjacent room where my lunch was already waiting for me. The grilled skirt steak from the Nordstrom cafe came with roasted asparagus, carrots and yukon gold
potatoes and cilantro lime vinaigrette. It was the perfect addition to my spa
experience.
The last part of my spa
day included a visit to Lana, the Skincare Therapist. Lana was so sweet
and extremely talented with decades of experiences behind her. She examined my
face under a bright light to advise the perfect facial for my skin. The Alpha
Beta Peel by Dr. Dennis Gross was chosen as the best option.
Lana mentioned that this
particular facial was the best for all skin types and number one selling of all
the home peels. She said that this facial is very good for diminishing fine
lines, wrinkles, reduces pores and smooths the skin surface immediately. It’s
very rich in vitamin C and vitamin D. It has a lot of active ingredient like
retinol. It also improves the elasticity of the skin and works very well for pigmentation
and sun damage. You can keep using this facial until your skin is improved. The
home peels are also sold directly on the Nordstrom spa website so you can
continue the treatment at home after the spa visit.
The Alpha Beta Peel did everything Lana said it would. It gave my face a bright, healthy glow and improved the overall look of my skin.
Thank you so much Nordstrom
spa for such a relaxing experience. It’s just what this busy Fashion Blogger needed to feel beautiful and energized!
