New York Fashion Week Diary Day 2: Wearing Giovanni Lo Presti

I had the incredible opportunity of wearing a Giovanni Lo Presti Spring 2014 mask and romper for Day 2 of New York Fashion Week. I couldn't help but feel a certain level of fierceness and empowerment when wearing his unique designs.

Giovanni was in town from Switzerland to present his Spring 2014 collection to the American market. Our mutual friend Eleonora Quizmolli from Sensation of House thought it would be great for us to meet and collaborate for Fashion Week.

As fate would have it I needed a few more pieces to wear for the shows. Giovanni kindly offered to dress me in his brilliant couture creations from his Spring 2014 collection of masks and ready-to-wear.

Being dressed by Giovanni for Fashion Week was a mesmerizing whirlwind of my fashion dreams come true. We met during his model castings for his Spring 2014 presentation which was happening later on in the week. It was an honor to wear his beautiful work which had not yet been shown to the world.

Giovanni is known for his unique designs and use of sumptuous materials like leather, wool and silk. He’s praised for his exquisitely made, high-quality, sophisticated and luxury ready-to-wear designs. His revolutionary unbreakable masks are made to contort to the face for the perfect fit.

Since launching of his designs in 2004, Mr. Lo Presti’s creations have been presented in several major fashion capitals including Paris, Nice, Cannes, Milan, New York, London, Nicosia, Göteborg, Zurich, Geneva and Lausanne. His designs have also been shown at the Cannes Film Festival, in 2005 for Chopard, and in 2008 - 2012 for Rouge FM Ambassador.

It felt like time had stopped the minute I walked into the courtyard at Lincoln Center. All eyes and cameras instantly turned to focus on me. Street style photographers congregated around me to get their shots of my Giovanni Lo Presti look.

After photos I ran to catch my shows for the day which included Carmen Marc Valvo, ELLE Fashion Next and Academy of Art.

My best friend Rachel was able to come with me that day. We've been friends for over 11 years and she was always the one who’s encouraged me to keep pursuing my fashion dreams. It was so rewarding to have her be there to watch me have the opportunity to live them.

Rachel wore a Marc by Marc Jacobs neon dress with a top black leather accent. We were certainly the standout black and neon girls at Fashion Week!

We stopped by the vendor booths inside the tents like eBay Now, a local shopping service from eBay. eBay Now delivers thousands of local products from hundreds of local retailers in San Francisco, San Jose and parts of New York City, usually in about an hour. How cool?!

I ran into one of my favorite PR friends, Jordana Hazan from Untapped PR. I loved Jordana’s fab ‘check me out’ shirt which included a bar code. She paired the shirt with a fun black matching skirt.

Jordana introduced me to her friend Natalie from Eye Majicthe world's first complete eye shadow application which allows users to apply eye shadow without the use of brushes.

The Style Network had a fun photo-booth set up for pictures. Rachel and I had so much fun putting on the styled to rock knuckles for the shoot.

Next, I ran into Bonnie Bien, President of La Presse PR. Bonnie was one of the first people to give me a start in fashion. I interned for her famed fashion PR company in 2007 back when I was a college student at FIT. I learned so much from Bonnie and it’s always such a pleasure to see her again each season at Fashion Week.

I gave a few more interviews about my Giovanni Lo Presti look. I was so happy to see Gio’s work getting the attention he deserves.

Just before we had to run to the ELLE Fashion Next Awards I was stopped by a TV network. They were fascinated by Giovanni’s designs. I remember describing my look as a ‘fashion warrior’ ready for Fashion Week battle.

Thank you so much Giovanni for letting me wear your beautiful designs and making my Day 2 of Spring 2014 Fashion Week one of the most unforgettable once in a lifetime experiences.

As Helen Keller once said, “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.”
