Mathieu Mirano Fall 2012: Chinese Aesthetic With a Modern Twist

Mathieu Mirano presented a beautiful Chinese inspired collection in the tents this season. How befitting since 2012 is in fact the year of the dragon. Although a new-comer to the tents, Mathieu delivered one of the most interesting collections.

I think he did a phenomenal job in infusing Chinese aesthetic into modern day looks. It's usually a hit or miss when designers attempt to marry two cultures into a garment but in this case it was definitely a seamless transition. One of my favorite looks was the below gown. I was mesmorized by the material and the way it looked on the model. I could just imagine wearing this dress to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, walking into the Lincoln Center courtyard and capturing every single paparazzo's attention.

Mathieu certainly understands how to make a woman stand out and I look forward to seeing more of his work in the coming years!
