Bar III for Macy’s Fall 2012 Preview at the Penthouse

I had a chance to get an exclusive sneak peak of the new Bar III for Macy’s collection for Fall 2012. The invite-only event was held at the gorgeous Bar III Penthouse which overlooks the Hudson River in New York City. I’ve never been to this location before and the view was just so incredible to see. Guests at the event also had a chance to enjoy grilled burgers, veggies and beer that were served on the breathtaking rooftop terrace.

The new Bar III collection for Fall included RTW for women’s, men’s as well as jewelry and home decor. I thought the collection was very interesting and I loved that it focused on variations of different prints and shapes. One of my  favorite pieces was the below print dress.

While perusing the collection I had a chance to interview Jake Hammel who was one of the brand representatives.

Here’s what he had to say about the Bar III Fall 2012 collection:

Can you tell me about the new collection?
It's part of the Macy’s Impulse Department. It’s a very young and contemporary collection that offers style focused pieces. It has women’s and men’s RTW. It also has jewelry for women and a home collection. There’s different pieces for the Fall collection. The design aesthetic stays true to Bar III but is also branched into a lot more patterns and textures for Fall. You’ll see the different patterns. When it comes to textures we bring in heavy knits for our caped piece. We also have a coated denim jacket so it looks like a traditional jean jacket but it’s really black denim so it has a different aesthetic and feel.

What are the biggest trends?
The biggest trends are working with leather pieces both for the women’s and men’s side. When it comes to accents, sleeve details and trims. The trim detail of leather for the jacket as well as cutouts. Cutouts where it’s the knit interwoven on top of the neckline and also the laser cutout dress and skirt. The collection is also very Aztec when it comes to the patterns and the color combinations with the different textures.
