DEPESHA magazine's Russian Designers Presentation & Reception

DEPESHA, a Russian lifestyle magazine held a lavish presentation and reception of emerging and established Russian designers at the General of the Russian Federation on the Upper East Side of New York.

I’m originally from Russia so it was quite exciting for me to be invited to this event.

It was the day before New York Fashion Week and one of the coldest days of this winter. When choosing my outfit for the evening I wanted to go for a glamorous Russian Princess look but also keep warm. I wore a Dolman Sleeve Faux Fur Bolero and a One Shoulder Beaded Patch Metallic Sheath Dress, both by Eliza J

The presentation was held in an opulent Louis XVI-style room. Featured Russian designers included: Pirosmani by Jenya Malygina, Serguei Teplov, Vardoui Nazarian, Dmitry Loginov ARSENICUM, Tegin, BEssARION, Arngoldt, Irina Shaposhnikova, Sergey Polyakov, Viva Vox, Bezous, Izeta, and Aleksandr Khrisanfov. Natalia Sych, a famous Moscow fashion stylist curated the all-black presentation by taking select pieces from each designer.

My favorite look from the presentation was the front and center Dmitry Loginov ARSENICUM black swan dress which had a plastic corset and skirt made of feathers.

The Consulate General of the Russian Federation is formally the John Henry Hammond Mansion which was originally built in 1901.

The five-story Renaissance style limestone town house was designed by Carrère and Hastings, the architects behind the New York Public Library. They were strongly influenced by 16th and 18th century Italian palazzo details.

Traditional Russian food was served in the adjacent room next to the presentation. It felt like I was back in Russia when I walked around the rooms at the Consulate General of the Russian Federation. There were over 300 people in attendance and 95% were Russian.

While at the event I also met Anzhelika Steen Olsen, a Russian celebrity designer of luxury exotic skin handbags called Eliann Couture. In the above photo she's holding one of her designs, a black Alligator Skin Clutch with an 8k gold magnet logo insignia.

Thank you DEPESHA magazine for inviting me to this special Russian presentation and reception!
