Christo's Birthday/Holiday Party At His Glamorous Fifth Avenue Salon

I had the absolute pleasure of attending Christo’s Birthday/Holiday party at his namesake salon, Christo Fifth Avenue. It was certainly a fête fit for a star and with all the trimmings! (Pun intended.) 

The evening included decadent guests in formal attire, open bar, hors d’oeuvres, music by DJ Angelo and gambling.

Christo is one of the most extraordinary people that I’ve ever met. Dubbed “The King of Curls” by The Wall Street Journal and Women’s Wear Daily, Christo approaches curly hair with revolutionary Diametrix cutting and styling technique. His philosophy centers on healthy, gorgeous hair, and his luxurious line of Curlisto® products focuses first and foremost on nourishing hair with ingredients that specifically remedy curly hair challenges.

His styling has been featured in numerous publications including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe, The Associated Press, American Salon, Modern Salon, Glamour Magazine, Teen Vogue, Vanity Fair, Marie Claire, Family Circle and countless more. Christo has been featured as hair expert for many news segments including PIX11, ABC, CBS, FOX 5, and Telemundo. Christo was also invited to transform hair color and style for TLC’s “Date Patrol,” HBO’s “Fit Club,” Bravo’s “Guide to Style” and Reality TV star Kendra Wilkinson from “Kendra On Top.”

Christo works closely with top designers for major fashion events, including New York and San Francisco Fashion Week, the Latin Grammy and Billboard Awards, Tribeca Film Festival, and the Sundance Film Festival to name a few.

Over the past 20 years, Christo has styled and recommended products for many V.I.Ps and celebrities such as Princess Lalla of Morocco, the First Ladies of Cyprus, Colombia, and Mexico, as well as Nia Long, Kelly Preston, Jamie Shimizu, Melanie Brown from the Spice Girls, Adrienne Bailon, Matthew Modine, and Marcia Gay Harden. Other celebrities include Debra Messing, Olympia Dukakis, Rosanna and Patricia Arquette, Katherine Waterston, Andrea Powell, Angelica Vale, Christian Siedel, Sofia Milos, Tony Trucks, and various cast members from the popular Twilight Saga, TV series Gotham, Orange Is The New Black, and many more.

One of my absolute favorite moments was taking pictures on the red carpet with Christo, the man of the evening as well as famous fashion designer Loris Diran and my friend Michelle Grundman. 

Christo was the most gracious host, making sure everyone was well introduced and having a good time. I was one of the first people to arrive at the party and Christo took me around to introduce to his friends so I wouldn't be alone. Literally one of the nicest, most respected people I know. In fact, his philosophy of life is to always give back when you are in a position to help and make a difference. Christo firmly believes that “when you give, you get much more in return."

I was so excited to see my friend Ivanandre Torres, a celebrity stylist at Christo’s salon. Ivanandre did my incredible swan hairstyle this past fashion week.

Christo had the party catered by Yefsi Estiatorio, his family restaurant. It was the most amazing Greek food I’ve ever had. I think I tried almost everything on the table, twice over! I'm a huge foodie, so I'll most definitely be visiting his restaurant to try more of their delicious Greek cuisine very soon. 

In addition to fun music by DJ Angelo, guests were also entertained by various fashion shows on the big screen in the room. One of my favorites was the above Chanel couture show in Paris. It's always been a dream of mine to visit Paris for the couture shows, and seeing the Chanel fashion show on the screen made me remember my goal. Maybe my dream will finally come true in 2016?!

Guests also had the opportunity to try their luck at a blackjack table. I've never gambled before, but it did look quite fun!  

Christo’s epic Birthday/Holiday party was concluded with a live raffle drawing for prizes.
