Yoana Baraschi Spring/Summer 2013 Preview

I stopped by Yoana Baraschi's showroom to preview her latest collection for Spring/Summer 2013. Yoana is one of my favorite designers and each season she delivers such exquisite looks. I couldn't find a more appropriate outfit to wear then my Yoana Baraschi print high-low dress which I was lucky to receive courtesy of her team. 

For Spring 2013 Yoana masterfully shows her strength in embroidery and print design. There is a delicious assortment of bright colors, lace, exotic animal and floral prints, ombre design as well as dainty tweed. 

NOMIA Fall 2012: Neon Brights

 

Bright neon colors illuminated the NOMIA Fall 2012 collection. Designer Yara Flinn’s inspiration came from the fluorescent light installments of artist Dan Flavin. It was interesting to see how she infused the bright pops of fuchsia and cobalt into a more darker and subdued palette of colors which included gray, navy and olive. It was a bold move to make but she pulled it off quite nicely as the neon brights were tailored seamlessly into the garments.

Pink Tartan SS12 Presentation: Paris Chic Meets Mod Magnifique

Two prominent cultural styles became one at Pink Tartan’s Spring/Summer 2012 Presentation at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Designer Kimberley Newport-Mimran was clearly inspired by the mod styles of the 1960s as well as the saucy nature of Paris fashion. Top trends included: bright colors, polka dots, gold sequin, stripes and black & white. Pieces ranged from flirty dresses to separates and tailored trenches.

Aside from the fashion makeup and hair were also well executed from the teased hair styles to the fun cat-eye lashes and liner. Accessories like the Jackie O and cat-eye frames really solidified the look and feel of this presentation.

My favorite look was the gold sparkly sequin dress. I love that she used chunky sequins to make the dress really stand out. I would definitely wear this piece to a fabulous benefit or party.

7 Major Trends for Spring/Summer 2012

 They say fashion reflects the economic times we live in. If that’s true we have something to look forward to for Spring/Summer 2012. The 7 major trends on the runway for SS12 were sheer materials, bright colors, ruffles, saucy prints, polka dots, shiny gold fabrics and lots of structured shapes. It’s been a while since I’ve seen so much vibrancy and color on the runways at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Could it be that our economy is finally beginning to turn around? Guess we’ll have to wait and see this coming Spring if the season’s fashion is a true reflection of the times.
