Gypsy Chic Inspired Outfit

Gypsy Chic Inspired Outfit

Styling is one of my favorite things to do. It's always exciting to find interesting pieces and put them together for one cohesive look. I start by finding one central piece and base everything around it. In this case the first thing that I found was the long Chloe skirt. There's something so free about it that it inspired me to create a modern day "Gypsy Outfit". The next thing I picked out was the black leather tube top. The way I would style the outfit is by pulling the skirt a little over the mid section so only a little bit of skin is showing in the middle. (You want just enough skin to show but not too much.)

Next, I found the black leather Alexander McQueen booties with skull zippers. Finally the finishing touch to the outfit was the black jeweled turban which in my opinion completed the look perfectly. What do you guys think?

Fashion Week Inspired Outfit

Fashion Week Inspired Outfit

There are exactly 45 days till Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York... but who's counting? As I've mentioned before I love putting together my looks a few months in advance. Lately I've been inspired by vibrant colors mixed with solid black for a fun but edgy look.

When I find something that I like I always center everything else around that piece. In this case the first thing I found was the Alexander McQueen jacket.
The dress was my next selection. I loved the mixture of vibrant coral and blue in this piece. When you put the jacket over the dress it will cover the majority of it leaving only a hint of blue pattern on top and bright coral fabric on the bottom.

My next selection for this outfit were the Prada sunnies. There is something about the structure of both the jacket and sunnies that mesh so well together.
The next befitting addition to the outfit were the Fogal tights matched with Giuseppe Zannotti booties.

Finally the completing element was the blue and gold Jennifer Elizabeth ring which matches the hint of blue on top of the dress.
In all my outfits I like to bring the different elements of the look full circle in color, structure and shape.

Alexander McQueen "Savage Beauty" Exhibit

Last Sunday was the final day of the Alexander McQueen “Savage Beauty” exhibit at the Met Museum. I woke up that morning ambivalent if I should take the 1 hour trip to NYC and wait on a 5 hour line to see the exhibit. It didn’t take long for me to realize that there was no way I could miss this final opportunity to witness first hand the legendary clothes that McQueen poured so much of his life, heart and soul into.

The exhibit was breathtaking in every sense of the word. The show opened with two gowns one blood red and the other pure white. The red gown was made of red and black ostrich feathers with tiers of glass medical slides painted red to look bloodlike. The white dress was made of white sea shells.

As I made my way through each room I was memorized with what I saw as each piece in the exhibit was so intricate, complex and beautiful just like the designer himself.

Many of McQueen's quotes were written on walls in the exhibit but one in particular stood out. "I oscillate between life and death, happiness and sadness, good and evil," he once said.

The exibit was a celebration of his life and the life he poured into his clothes which will live on forever as his legacy. Check out the full video of the Alexander McQueen "Savage Beauty" exhibit below.
